(from left) at VX2010Over 400 leaders of business, politics, and entrepreneurship attended the VX2010: VERDEXCHANGE Green Marketmakers Conference on January 25, 2010. With the quality of local, regional, and international leadership on hand at the event, the media was interested in what those in attendance had to say about the ongoing fight to control carbon emissions and curb global climate change.
Among the media on hand was Molly Peterson, who, for Southern California National Public Radio affiliate KPCC, highlighted the importance of green business to the economic strategies of local officials and VX2010 attendees, such as Los Angeles City Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas. An additional blog post by Molly Peterson explored a marketing device of local officials selling green initiatives to the public.
A blog post by Headington Media Group focused on the international focus of the panels, finding some of the conference's best content in the panelists that debated the state of international negotiations for carbon reductions targets, especially in the wake of the failure of the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference.
Herman K. Trabish from NewEnergyNews supplied a lengthy post about VX2010's cap-and trade panel, which also provided an excellent summary of the policy and business issues at play in the creation of a cap-and-trade system in the United States.
